About Me
“All who succeed in life get off to a bad start, and pass through many heartbreaking struggles before they ‘arrive’. The turning point in the lives of those who succeed usually comes at the moment of some crisis, through which they are introduced to their ‘other selves’. ” - Napoleon Hill
- Do you often find yourself unhappy and worried about your life, career, family?
- Do you often feel that you are “not good enough” because you can’t find a job that is at your academic / intellectual level?
- Do you often feel that everyone, somehow, is doing better than you in terms of career and family life?
- Do you often feel frustrated with relationships, the working world, and finding a suitable job or career?
- Do you often feel insecure regarding your present accomplishments?
- Do you often feel disappointed with your job / business?
- Do you often feel insecure about your future?
- Do you often ask about the meaning of life?
- Do you often feel financially stressful?
- Do you often feel lonely sometimes?
Do you feel a sense of urgency to get rid of all the problems you’re meeting in life?
If you answer more “yes” than “no” to the above questions, your life is in crisis. You’re facing either a quarterlife crisis, a midlife crisis, or an existential crisis. You have this feeling probably because you have reached a certain stage in life where it’s time for you to consciously make a change in your life in order to survive the rest of life.
If you answer more “no” than “yes” to the above questions, watch out because you will soon meet at one point in life a crisis that needs your immediate attention and action. Unless you’re super confident and optimistic about life and all that it has offered you so far, you will one day meet some “crisis” as those who answer more “yes” than “no” above.
To exist is to change, to change is to mature, to mature is to go on creating oneself endlessly. - Henri Bergson
The goal of this blog site is to provide you with articles, inspirations, ideas, and tips on how to live a better, more fulfilling life. It is devoted to helping you grow as a person to achieve the most out of life.
Who is behind this site?
My name is Amos Chan. I’m the person behind this blog site. I write and maintain this site in my spare time. I live and work in Hong Kong. I’ve been married for 3 years now and my wife is from Malaysia. How did we meet? Well, like some of our friends and many of you, we met on the Internet - ICQ!
I love exploring the Web for new trends, ideas, technologies that could help make our world a better place. I enjoy reading topics about life, career, success stories, and personal development. I like thinking so I think a lot about life and things in it.
What is your profession?
Back in the dotcom era, I was a web developer. But in recent years, I have been involved in China sourcing and manufacturing. What a change! I know, but I enjoy working in both fields. So, this site has nothing to do with my work. It’s purely my personal interest in setting up a site like this to satisfy my insatiable desire to help others to grow as a person and lead a happy life.
Why this blog?
I created this blog in hopes that it will help others learn about life and crisis that they may be facing, and as a result help improve their lives. I want to make people aware that life crisis does not just happen to those middle-aged people any more but any persons of any age living in this digital age! I want to share my ideas, thoughts, questions, … about life, failure, success, career, family, friendships, … etc. that I learn from my own experiences and others so we can all learn from each other and grow together through meaningful conversations. Learning things about life, people and relationships are important to me. I believe by sharing life experiences and knowledge with others, we don’t just help others grow and succeed in their life but ourselves as well! Those who help others help themselves! Do you believe it?
I’m a big advocate of self-learning, life-long learning, and continuous personal development throughout life. So, my goal for this blog is to deliver valuable posts that have some meaning to people and not a bunch of useless or news related daily tidbits (although sometimes it’s good to relax with some tidbits.) Over time, I’d like to develop this site with more specific topics, but am currently exploring what gets the most attention and interest. I’d be happy to hear new ideas from you by email, in comments below, or on any posts for that matter. I hope you will enjoy and can learn from all the posts on this blog site.
Mission of this site
- To make people aware that life crisis does not just happen to those we know as middle-aged people (midlife crisis) any more, but twentysomething young adults as well (quarterlife crisis) in this digital age.
- To help people go through or get out of their life problems by providing useful help/tips/ideas on issues they’re facing in their life, such as career, relationships, … and by providing a platform where people can turn to for emotional support / help / tips.
- To guide young despaired people into a bright, right life path through advice/ideas/helpful tips shared by me and other participants of this site.
Who’s this blog for?
So, this blog is NOT for everyone! It’s for :
- People who are serious about life, success, and happiness.
- People who are facing some kinds of life crisis in their life.
- People who want to have a purpose-driven, meaningful life.
What’s this blog not?
This blog site is NOT a place for professional guidance or advice for your important life decision making, because I’m not trained for it by profession. It’s just a personal journal where I express my thoughts, express my own personal opinion, interact with others on interesting topics, and make notes of what I understand to be factual information for those who may find useful for their information. Comments and blog entries posted on this site by me and other participants are only opinions and thoughts freely yet responsibly expressed, NOT professional advice. If you have any issue with any blog items placed on this blog site, I can be contacted here. Click here to read me first if you have not.
Subscribe to this Blog
You’re welcome to regularly come back to this blog from a bookmark (Ctrl+D for Firefox and IE, Ctrl+T for Opera), but nowadays, there are much easier ways to get updates from a site (especially blog sites). This is done by subscribing to an RSS feed from the site. Basically, as the site gets new posts or content, the RSS feed will update your feed reader. I personally recommend using Google Reader, since you have it online from any PC and it easily organizes all of your feeds. You can also subscribe to the RSS feeds in Outlook, Firefox, IE, etc.
You can subscribe on the RSS Feed page to all content, or comments left by others on specific posts.
How do you contact me?
I’m very open to new ideas, constructive criticisms, questions, … etc. Please feel free to contact me here.
Enjoy your reading!
Thanks & Regards,
Amos

Hi Tsuro,
Thanks for your encouragement and support!
It is my hope that by sharing my thoughts about life and things in it, people can get inspired and continue to strive for a better life, a better future, instead of feeling bad about our own past - failures. Yes, the feeling of being a failure in the past may be true, but that only serves as a stepping stone to greater success at the end, I realize. It’s only temporary failure. Like Havelock Ellis said: It is on our failures that we base a new and different and better success.
Take care,
Amos
